It seems that you are obligated to buy a certificate in order for the users of your freeware(in my case) not to be scared from the smartscreen that pops up at running the unsigned EXE. Is it really that hard for VS to check the code (i don't know, maybe check that it does neither interact with any of the system's files that is executed nor does connect to the internet) and give a certificate to the application that is developed?
Why one must buy a certificate for an open source that he created, especially when he is not a professional developer?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
